ABOUT US & WHAT WE DO
IT STARTS WITH
The love of music...
McDaniel Publishing Group (MPG) is an independent music publishing company that represents music songwriters and producers. Their performance rights sub-companies include Cliveden Street Publishing (BMI) and Philly Level Music (ASCAP). MPG services include registering music works (songs) and collecting specific music royalties. McDaniel Publishing Group also solicits and negotiates any sync licensing opportunities. Sync licensing is the placement of music in Film, TV, Video Games, Commercials, etc.
Unfortunately, many music artists do not understand the music business, especially music publishing. Some music artists do not receive all of the royalties that they deserve; therefore they are under-earning, sometimes because of the mistakes in maintenance and management of their works. Sometimes artists or songwriters rely on their label or management to handle this process to manage their music publishing. The label or management could care less because it doesn’t affect their income stream. Therefore in these cases, an artist may not even have publishing set up at all. McDaniel Publishing Group specializes in making sure the songwriter’s publishing is set up correctly. MPG has taken the initiative to primarily sign songwriters where there are issues with their music publishing. MPG works hard to correct issues and make sure the writer starts to get all of the music royalties that they deserve, and fights to get any back royalties (if possible). That includes royalties from other than Performance Rights Organizations (BMI & ASCAP).
In conclusion, McDaniel Publishing Group handles the songwriter’s music publishing business, while the songwriter writes hit records. Keep this in mind; all songwriters need a publisher, even if they establish their own. The music publisher is the business arm of the copyright work. Some royalties are only paid to publishers, where the publisher would end up paying the writers. Companies that are looking to get sync licenses will only reach out to the music publisher. If they can’t find the music publisher, they may move on, and the writer may lose the opportunity. MPG is there to handle the writer’s business, and make sure the writer gets income. The music publisher also legally protects the work, and makes sure that it is not used without permission and compensation.
